Probably the most daunting part of learning how to cast a fly rod is how to do it quickly and accurately no matter what kind of weather conditions you are faced with. The double haul is the essential part of fly casting that will help you overcome those trepidations. Albeit, it is one of those things where it can be compared to the same difficulty level as rubbing your belly while you pat your head. Once you've mastered it though, it will be second nature and the beginning step of every cast on the water.
