Fly Fishing 101

Whats in my pack? Trout Essentials

It's always interesting to see the items that other anglers deem a necessity on the river. In this video, I will be walking you through what those essentials are for me. Everything from a fake beer can to a pinch pouch this is everything that I make sure I carry on me for a day of trout fishing on any river at any time of the year. Personally I am a huge fan of hip packs as they allow for a full range of motion from my torso. In this Umpqua Ledges 650 I manage to have 2 packs of weights, 2 different flotants, spare hooks, 5 fly boxes, a pouch full of strike indicators, 9 spools of tippet material, hemostats, and a fake beer can. Bet you can't guess what that last one is for.

Tippet Rings

This one little, and I mean LITTLE, trick will help you save a ton of money wasted on leaders each month. Tippet rings help you from wasting valuable leaders by adding a teeny tiny washer to your leader that allows you to tie tippet on as you need it without cutting into your leader. In this video, I will show you how to use a tippet ring and some tricks to help you get the most out of your rig with this new add on. Plus rumor has it, we like to give these out in our Supply Drops.
