I have been fishing for as long as I can remember. Like many, I use my passion for the outdoors as a way to rehabilitate myself from the daily grind. It was only about 5 years ago, that I decided I would actually work in the outdoor industry. You know what they say.... if you work at a job you love you'll never work a day in your life. On top of working in the fly fishing industry, I have taught many fly tying classes and been on a few conservation group's board of directors. Getting new anglers on the water is one of my favorite things when it comes to fishing. Seeing their excitement when they catch their first fish on a fly rod is what keeps me continually coming back to the sport.

I grew up in Colorado and Texas searching for critters, fishing, and generally looking for mischief. I continued that way for much of my young adulthood until I met my future wife and her Grandpa. Her Grandpa quickly became my Grandpa and he used to infuse me with stories from his childhood where he would spend weeks of his summers by himself camped in Cheeseman Canyon with a tent and a fly rod before WWII. He came from generations of fly “wishermans” (as he used to call them!) and I quickly took to it under his guidance. He taught me how to cast, how to read the river, and all of the other things he could think of to make me a great fly fisher. Some of my favorite memories with him included early, peaceful, and successful mornings with him out on the river. The knowledge that he imparted to me came from generations before him and I wish to impart that knowledge on my own sons.

It is this tradition of passing down knowledge that I wish to accomplish with TrueFly Supply. Most of my free time you can now find me in some of my favorite fishing holes honing my techniques and loving the outdoors. In stressful times coming back to the river feels like home; and in calm and happy times coming back to the river feels like the best way to give thanks for the beauty we are surrounded by. I hope all of our members can come to feel the passion for this sport that I do.

My journey fly fishing started at 10 years old in the Florida Keys and Everglades. My Grandfather was a hunting and fishing guide working out of Homestead Fl. He taught me to double haul cast and we went on trips in search of tarpon, bonefish, redfish, snook. In the summers I would spend 3-4 weeks each year with my grandparents in the western North Carolina where my grandfather taught me the finer points of how to be a Troutbum as we camped and searched the local rivers for native trout.

In my early 20’s I moved to Boulder Colorado and immediately became obsessed with western trout fishing.

Streamer fishing is my favorite way to fish for trout. I love to cast streamers and see the fish come to the fly and feel the aggressive take. In some ways it’s similar to how I learned to fly fish in the salt water sight finishing, casting to fish I think that’s part of why I love it so much it takes me back to my roots.
